Part 3 of 10 Β· Leadership lessons I wish I knew earlier

πŸ“Œ 3 β€” Culture is incentives, not posters

Many companies talk endlessly about culture. Very few design it.

Here’s what most leaders forget:

People do what is rewarded, tolerated, or ignored β€” not what is printed on a wall.

>> If you reward urgency, you get urgency.

>> If you tolerate mediocrity, you get mediocrity.

>> If you ignore values, you get misalignment.

A CFO sees culture long before HR does β€” because it shows up in spend patterns, decision speed, accountability, and quality of escalations.

Culture is not a vibe. It’s a system of incentives. And incentives are a leadership choice.
